I have been photographing landscapes and nature for over 50 years. These images were photographed in virtually every state and National Park west of the Mississippi River. During my initial schooling on photography my camera selection started with an Argus C-3, which was all that I could afford at the time. Eventually I transitioned into a Nikon FTN 35mm and a Graphlex 2 ¼ by 3 ¼ cut film camera. At that time, I set up a darkroom and processed well over 30,000 individual black and white images. Virtually all of those images were taken in the Chicago area and its Western suburbs as part of school assignments. During one of my classes, my interest in photographing landscapes was enriched when one of the guest lecturers was Ansel Adams. Eventually I went on the get college degrees in Electronics and Computer Science so that I could afford to promote the photography ambitions. Finally I went on to get a degree in Professional Photography to further my knowledge of the subject.

After completing school, whenever feasible, I traveled to various areas developing and refining my skills. My interests turned to utilizing color and slide film thus eliminating the need for a black and white darkroom. I continued to use the Nikon FTN camera slowly adding accessory lenses such as wide angle and telephoto zoom. To this day that camera is still in working order but has been retired for newer digital equipment. In 2002 I moved from the Illinois area to Texas, Southwest of Houston. At some point I won a Canon SX130 camera which was basically a digital point and shoot with some programmable options to allow for more creative photography. While using this camera I noticed a direct improvement in the color rendition of the various subjects being photographed. After much research, I switched from Nikon to Canon and purchased several professional Canon digital single lens reflex (DSLR) cameras along with lenses and accessories to assist in perfecting the photographic art.

With obtaining the first Canon, I started using software programs provided by them to process the digital images. While this did an acceptable job, eventually I realized that there were areas in the images that the current software was unable to render in a suitable fashion. Upon investigation I came upon a software suite by Adobe called Photoshop and Lightroom. While there was a steep learning curve with these programs the overall results were worth the effort. To this day, I am still only using about 10% of the capabilities of these programs to produce the images on this web site. The images represented on this website are just a few of the several hundred thousand images taken with the Canon cameras. They are specifically “over processed” to show color detail. They are all available for purchase on canvas but with the actual color renditions as they look in nature.
